About Arizona Sustainability Alliance:
Arizona Sustainability Alliance (AZSA) is a nonprofit action and advocacy alliance that aims to create and support cutting-edge, project-based sustainability solutions in Arizona through civic engagement, collaboration, and education. We empower people, organizations, and cities to work together towards more equitable and sustainable communities with a focus on the priority areas of conservation, renewable energy, sustainable food systems, and urban forestry.

Position Overview:
The Green Career Pathways (GCP) workforce development program is focused on accomplishing two essential tasks for Arizona: providing essential job skills to students from underrepresented communities and meeting labor demand for the sustainability sector. By collaborating with Title I schools and both public and private partners, this program provides students with technical job skills in a variety of clean energy and conservation career pathways. This program benefits high school students from communities that have historically lacked access to equitable educational opportunities and career pathways while also being disproportionately impacted by issues of environmental justice. By empowering youth from these communities to acquire job skills in the sustainability sector, this program aims to simultaneously address issues of equity and environmental justice.

AZSA is seeking an intern to support the GCP program and provide participating high school students with the knowledge and skills for clean energy and conservation career pathways. The internship will offer an opportunity to help create and implement initiatives that provide students with essential knowledge, technical training, and access to careers in clean energy and conservation. You will gain exposure to program coordination, partnership development, and education strategies aimed at addressing both equity and environmental challenges in Arizona.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Operations Support: Assist with daily operations and provide general administrative support for the GCP program, including managing GCP participant data, reporting on program progress, and communicating with participating students, educators, and partner organizations.
  • Student Engagement & Educational Programming: Assist in the planning, development, and coordination of GCP events and activities. Collaborate with partnering schools, local organizations, and industry professionals to strengthen the program’s network and opportunities for students.
  • Data Tracking & Reporting: Maintain detailed records on program data, curriculum engagement, and educational outcomes. Assist in compiling reports for internal teams and stakeholders, focusing on educational impacts.
  • Marketing and Communications: Contribute to creating promotional materials for social media, newsletters, and community events to showcase the educational aspects of the GCP program. Assist in updating the program’s website with educational resources, blog posts, and updates on growing progress.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the team, community partners, and other interns to improve program operations and educational outreach. Attend regular team meetings and contribute ideas to enhance program success and reach.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment in a relevant academic program (e.g., Sustainability, Education, Environmental Science, or related fields).
  • Strong interest in sustainability, clean energy, conservation, environmental justice, and workforce development.
  • Experience or strong interest in working with youth programs or educational initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with online collaboration tools such as Google Workspace, Zoom, Canva, Trello, and Slack.
  • A valid Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card through the Arizona Department of Public Safety is required. Fingerprint fees will be covered by AZSA.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in teaching, tutoring, or educational outreach.
  • Experience with instructional design or an interest in developing educational content.
